Lose Weight With Stone-Age Wisdom
You may already know that America spends more than any other country on health care. Almost ten times more.
You may already know that we spend over $3 Billion a year on weight loss programs and products.
But it may surprise you to know that we rank 38th of the top 40 industrialized nations in overall health. Even though we spend the most, we don't have the best. Far from it:
We're fatter, sicker and weaker than just about every other modern country
obesity and diabetes are being classified as epidemic
Radical procedures like Gastric bypass are becoming more popular
The ultimate irony: even though we spend over $3 billion a year on weight loss programs and products, we spend over $3 billion a year on junk food, too.
The pharmaceutical industry spends billions in research and treatment of Heart disease, Arthritis, Alzheimer's, diabetes, Osteoporosis, cancer...but we're still getting sicker and sicker.
Why? Because these aren't diseases that you "catch". Researchers call them the "diseases of Modern Civilization", because they're directly connected to the things we eat. To our modern, so-called Civilized diet. I call them diseases of 'Disconnection'. Because we're disconnected from Nature, disconnected from our food, and disconnected from Ourselves.
Researchers, historians, nutritionists, scientists--anyone who's studied the natural history of these changes in human health (especially the recent changes)--all agree that the trouble started thousands of years ago with the Agricultural Revolution. That's when we started domesticating animals and plants for food, and using fire and tools to eat new foods that our bodies weren't designed to eat.
The next big shift was the Industrial Revolution, about 100 years ago. As people moved from the country into the cities, they couldn't grow their own food. So the people in the country had to grow food for everyone else. The new machinery made it easier to grow, harvest, process, preserve and transport all that food. Unfortunately, all that technology disconnected us even further from our Original diet, and made us sicker quicker.
Dr. Loren Cordain, Author of The Paleo Diet, did most of the pioneering research into the Stone Age eating patterns. He found that over 70% of the calories we eat today were not even available in the Stone Age. Our bodies haven't changed a whole lot since the Stone Age, but our food certainly has. Dr. Cordain calls it a "collision" between our ancient genes and our recently introduced foods. And our bodies can't handle it.
Now, 100 years may not seem like it's very recent, but compared to the thousands of years before, it's not really that long. And even in the past ten or twenty years things have changed dramatically, with more and more junk food, fake foods, food replacements. (My favorite: Pasteurized processed cheese food product.)
Whether you call it a Collision or a Disconnection, it's a mess. Our modern advances and technology have ultimately given us the Diseases of Modern Civilization: epidemics of Heart Disease, Arthritis, Alzheimer's, diabetes, Osteoporosis, cancer.
Spending all that time, energy and money trying to "cure" these diseases isn't really helping (and I don't believe it will ever help). I believe the answer lies in re-connecting. Re-learning our natural, innate, pre-programmed eating habits--based on lean meat, fresh fruits and vegetables--and feeding our bodies the way they were created/designed to eat.
No, you don't have to live in a cave or kill your own food. It's easy to eat in the Stone Age while you live in the Space Age--if you learn and apply the eating principles of our early ancestors. You'll be able to lose weight, feel great, and re-create your Ideal body from the Inside-Out.

Hit Straight Drives
A lot of golfers really battle to hit straight drives and getting off to a good start is such a confidence booster. There is nothing better than a good drive at the start of a round of golf. You will have a great day if you can hit straight drives off every tee.
The secret to straight driving is technique and confidence. If you have ever hit a straight drive then you can do it again. Its in there somewhere and all you have to do is find it and repeat it time and time again.
many a bad tee shot is the result of tension especially on the first tee of an important round or when there is a crowd around. The result is the player gets tense and so the whole body, starting from the grip and going right through the arms, legs and torso, is overcome with tension. The result can be embarrassing and shake a players confidence.
Remember when playing that the woods are a little bit longer than the irons and therefore a slightly flatter swing plane is required (dont adjust for this because of this article!). In many cases pulling out the driver is a habit and is sometimes not even required. If you have a 350 meter/yard hole you can probably easy take two six irons to get there. Why make it more difficult by playing a driver?
A very good way of grooving the swing and getting confidence to hit straight drives regularly is to practice with a shortened back swing. When you go to the range shorten your back swing to 75%. Make sure you accelerate evenly through the ball and make a full follow through.
As you do this more and more at practice your big muscles will groove themselves to perform the same when you go back to a full swing. Try it youll be amazed at the results. You may even find that with a shortened back swing the loss in distance (if any) is so negligible that with the extra accuracy it is not worth worrying about.
Standing on the first tee knowing that you will be in play after your tee shot is a huge confidence booster. No-one ever worries about who plays the second shot first yet we all want to smack the longest drive. funny thing the ego (intended for the men out there ladies dont seem to worry about this too much).
Give it a try I guarantee you will hit straight drives more often than you do at the moment.

Maduka Yoga MatDieting Fitness, You Are What You Eat, Really!
"Diet" is a word that is only second to that of exercise when it comes to hatred by many people. But, here, we aren't talking about a diet to lose weight. We aren't talking about a diet that you will go on to lose weight and then come off of later.
What you need to accomplish through a diet is to train your body to eat healthily. You need a diet that is actually a way of eating, not a temporary thing but a permanent thing.
Although that sounds even worse, dieting is something that is simple to do healthily even if you can't live without certain foods. You can do it even when you are in too much of a rush and don't have time. And, you can do it with lots of favors that you AND your children will enjoy.
Don't think about a diet that's taxing, troublesome, limiting or boring. Think of your diet as being free, open, full of taste and adventure, with all of the comfort that you want and need, too.
What's Healthy?
The foods that you need play a significant role on your health. foods are the fuel that your body requires to do a good job at the tasks that you ask it. In our machine look at the way that food works, the food that you consume is the fuel that your machine needs.
If you don't give it quality food, it won't perform the right way. Have you ever gone to put gas into your car and gotten to a really bad gas station where the fuel wasn't high quality or even up to standard? It slows your car down. You don't get the gas mileage that you are used to and you may even need to perform more maintenance on your car than you usually need to do.
In the way of your body, healthy food is just as important. If you consume the wrong foods all of the time, your body will not be able to perform as well as if you gave it the highest quality foods.
- without nutrition, your body can become ill faster and with greater intensity.
- Your body does not heal as quickly from injury.
- Your blood pressure rises, your heart rate increases to unhealthy levels.
- You are more prone to limitations physically as well as mentally. All sorts of problems arise from not eating a healthy diet of food. But, what is healthy and why is it healthy?
- Vegetables are one of the highest nutrient rich foods out there. They provide antioxidants to a high level that helps to heal your body, improve your physical fitness from the inside to the out, and they are very low in calories meaning you can eat more.
- Fruits are sweet so they can solve the sweet tooth. They also provide you with antioxidants and all types of nutrients that give your body the fuel it needs.
- Whole grains are also an important product of a healthy diet. Unlike "white" foods, whole grains give you so much more health. They don't cause you to gain weight like others. Choosing simple differences from bread to pasta to potatoes allows you to get the tastes that you love but without the added calories, fats, and sugars that can cause you health issues.
- water intake is also important. Those that do not get enough fluids end up having a body that retains water rather than having less. The body goes into dehydration mode, causing you to keep in all that you can. Consuming enough water means that you'll system is hydrated, you're eating less and that you aren't getting as many calories from other liquids.
- Meats are important parts of the diet, too. You need protein but you shouldn't want to get it from fatty meats. Improving your diet to just lean meats will allow you to cut down on the intake of cholesterol which will ultimately clog your heart minimizing blood flow to the rest of your body.
If you don't do anything else, improving these five areas is all you need to do. The good news is that you don't often need a lot of work to make them happen.
Your doctor may have additional or different recommendations for your health, too. He or she may recommend a diet that is different for your specific health issues. In addition, you may want to find out if there are any possible problems with the foods that you eat to your overall health specifically for your health problems.
